ROUTINES

The routines at the Pre-School are adapted regularly according to the seasons and the needs of the children at the service. The routines incorporate times of active outdoor play, indoor free play, music and language times, quiet play and small group times. The routine is determined by the children’s interests and is flexible to meet their needs.

Routines are developed to ensure children are given opportunities to develop responsibility and independence. The healthy development of positive self-esteem and independence is a vital aim in the Pre-School.

SUMMER ROUTINE (Terms 1 & 4)

8:30 – 11:30 a.m. CHILDREN ARRIVE

MORNING MEETING includes:

Sunscreen, hats, sharing thoughts, sharing of responsibilities

OUTDOOR PLAY includes:

Morning tea, puzzles, sand/water play, gross motor activities, art/craft, books, drawing, construction

11:30 – 2:00 p.m. INDOOR PLAY includes:

Construction, drawing, clay/playdough, puzzles, dramatic play, books, games, STEM, art/craft

LUNCH

WELLBEING includes:

Meditation/yoga

2:00 – 2:30 p.m. GROUP TIME OR FREE PLAY includes:

Story, music, instruments, drama, games

Will be offered in large or small group experiences depending on the number of children

2:30 – 3:30 p.m. SIMULTANEOUS IN/OUTDOOR PLAY includes:

Preparation for home

Pending educator to child ratio

3:30 - 4:00 p.m. INDOOR TIME

Quiet activities and home time
